BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Dick’s Sporting Goods said Tuesday they will stop selling guns at 125 of their 729 locations, after gun restrictions it set for itself last year led to a slump in overall sales.
The company hasn’t announced which stores will pull out of the gun market.
The Wall Street Journal reports the chain stopped selling guns to people under 21 and removed “assault-style” firearms from shelves after the Parkland, Florida shooting.
Dick’s plans to stock higher-margin and faster-selling products in the shelf space once reserved for gun sales at the affected locations.
The Dick’s location at Bellingham’s Bellis Fair Mall opened in 2017.
