OLYMPIA, Wash. — Students, history buffs, and the just plain curious now have a new easy-to-use resource to dig into Washington’s history.
The Washington State Library has launched a webpage containing digitized copies of thousands of historic newspapers from around the state.
Director for the Digital Newspaper Project Shawn Shollmeyer says, “[There’s] all kinds of reasons to use this great page . . . It’s a great opportunity for people to browse the newspapers, or look for significant information that they are trying to find about their families, or for student projects.”
She says the newest additions include copies of Anacortes American from 1890 to 1922, and they’re adding editions all the time.
There’s even an issue of the Lynden Tribune from 1915.
