Due to extreme fire danger, the Department of Natural Resources is closing all DNR-managed lands in Eastern Washington beginning midnight on Friday.

The temporary closure will also apply to any associated roads, trails, campgrounds, and recreational sites or facilities, and follows Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz burn ban – effective through September 30th.

DNR staff will continually monitor conditions and determine a reopening date once these factors have improved.

Across our state, over 900 fires have burned more than 140,000 acres.
