SEATTLE, WASH. (AP) – The U.S. Justice Department orders a Seattle-based immigrant rights group to stop a large part of the work it does.
The nonprofit Northwest Immigrant Rights Project advises immigrants of their legal rights and helps them with paperwork.
The group sued the Justice Department, saying the order would force thousands of people to go without legal help.
The DOJ says the organization can’t provide legal help unless it formally represents a client.
