VANCOUVER, Wash. — Dollar Tree, which has locations in Whatcom County, is facing one of the largest-ever fines from the Washington Department of Labor & Industries for repeated safety violations.
A store in Vancouver is the main focus of this citation and fine of more than $503,000.
L&I says it found the same safety violations on multiple visits, including unsafe merchandise storage and handling as well as obstructed exit routes.
Before this incident, the Virginia-based company had received fines topping $590,000 since 2013 regarding safety issues at stores in Bonney Lake and Kelso.
L&I now considers Dollar Tree a “severe violator.”
The company is appealing the citation.
