DUI emphasis patrols are underway through Labor Day weekend.
This year, the patrols are dedicated to the memory of Lynnwood Police Officer Mark Brinkman, who was nationally known for his leadership in DUI enforcement.
The Washington Traffic Safety Commission says the state is experiencing an increase in the rate of deaths and serious injuries from impaired driver involved crashes, even though overall miles traveled declined in 2020.
The emphasis patrols will run through September 6th.
