BLAINE, Wash. — What started as a dumpster fire turned into a structure fire at a Blaine business early Friday morning.
North Whatcom Fire and Rescue responded to a reported fire about 2:30 AM Friday, later joined by a total of eight other units from around the county.
They used their fire engine to aggressively attack the exterior fire to prevent it from moving into the Peace Arch City Cafe & Bar on Peace Portal Drive.
The department says the fire started in a cardboard recycling bin and dumpster stored against the building.
