BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Notorious e-scooters are headed our way.

Hundreds of cities across the world have already adopted electric scooter sharing systems to add mobility options for visitors and community members.

A pilot program is expected to begin in Bellingham in Spring 2020 to test the waters.

Christine Grant from the Downtown Bellingham Partnership says it will benefit Bellingham business.

And she says it won’t cost us.

The scooters have been controversial in some other cities due to concerns about safety, liability and a lack of regulation.

An informational e-scooter demo will take place this Thursday outside the Granary Building on the downtown waterfront.
