BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Northbound I-5 was closed for more than eight hours Monday at Slater Road after a semi-driver hauling a fifty-three-foot trailer rolled the semi on its side, blocking all lanes of traffic.

State Patrol trooper Heather Axtman says the driver from San Mateo, California was driving erratically, having trouble staying in his lane.

The driver, 29-year-old Kawaltasbir Singh, suffered minor injuries and was booked into Whatcom County Jail on DUI charges.

Drivers were detoured around the accident via the Slater Road I-5 on and off ramps while crews worked to right the rolled semi and transfer the vegetables it was carrying to another truck.
