EDMONDS, Wash. — An Edmonds bakery owner is withdrawing his apology for baking a “Build the Wall” Valentine cookie, and is now baking them by the dozens.
KOMO reports Ken Bellingham has gotten orders for the heart-shaped cookies from around the country and says he’s exercising his free speech by baking them.
Some customers complained about the cookies earlier this week, with one accusing Bellingham of racism.
“A cookie like this does represent that there is some sort of hate coming out of that bakery, whether he chooses to admit it or not,” she says.
Bellingham now says he’s “unapologizing.”
Ken Bellingham initially apologized for the ‘Build the Wall’ cookie he made last week. Today, he’s “unapologizing”, stressing it’s his right to bake these cookies. He says this week business has tripled and yes, the ‘Build the Wall’ cookies are for sale. #komonews pic.twitter.com/rBeT7O86i8
