BELLEVUE, Wash. – Education Secretary Betsy DeVos was in Bellevue Friday for the Washington Policy Center’s annual fundraiser and spoke about her vision for education reform.
“There isn’t a cure-all. There is no one-size-fits-all solution. Individual solutions will be found in states and local communities, led by families,” DeVos said.
KING-5 reported the dinner for the conservative think tank drew protesters and counter-protesters.
People participating in the anti-DeVos demonstration held signs saying “Fully Fund Education” and “Make America Think Again.”
DeVos is a strong supporter of charter schools and school choice. At the dinner DeVos spoke about her belief in a “limited federal government” and “empowering parents.”
