OLYMPIA, Wash. — Four initiatives, 11 congressional races and more than 100 legislative contests make for a crowded and expensive General Election and because of our mail-in ballot system, final results will take some time to determine.

I-1631 regarding a carbon emissions tax set a new state record for fundraising, with the “No on 1631” campaign raising more than $31 million, mostly from oil companies.

Meanwhile, the 8th Congressional District race is one of the most costly and most closely watched in the nation as Democrat Kim Schrier tries to flip the historically Republican-held seat in a face-off with Republican Dino Rossi.

Incumbent Democrat Senator Maria Cantwell is fighting to keep her seat from a well-known name in Susan Hutchison, the former State Republican Chair and long-time Seattle news anchor.

To ensure your ballot is counted, be sure to get it in one of the 18 county dropboxes by 8 PM Tuesday night.
