SEATTLE, Wash. — PacifiCorp, an Oregon-based electric utility, is asking a Washington state judge to permanently block the public release of some economic information it provided to state regulators about its coal-burning units.

The utility won a temporary restraining order in July after the Sierra Club filed a public records request.

A PacifiCorp spokesman says the information the Sierra Club wants is only a “partial analysis that doesn’t provide a complete picture” and that releasing it could be harmful since it could be misconstrued and distort the market.

The company serves 1.9 million customers in six states, including Washington and Oregon, and coal makes up about 62% of its supply.
