EVERETT, Wash. — Everett has joined Bellingham and other Washington cities in banning single use plastic bags to help cut down on plastic pollution.

The Everett Herald reports more than 20 cities and other jurisdictions in the state now ban retailers from handing out the bags.

Bellingham was one of the first cities in the state to ban single-use plastic bags, prohibiting them in 2015.
