EVERSON, Wash. – Residents of areas impacted by the flood are warned to be on the lookout for people who may be trying to scavenge or worse in the flood zone.
The Everson Police Department posts that its officers contacted at least one party with a rental truck that was reported to be scavenging near flooded property.
They say they’re aware of others in the area who are “up to no good.”
Anyone who sees suspicious behavior is asked to call 911 and not post about it on social media.
Police have asked the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Department and Border Patrol to help them with extra patrols in the area.
