The prescription for the Los Angeles Rams heading into the draft was to improve their anemic offense. Record setting Eastern Washington University wide receiver Cooper Kupp is just what the doctor ordered.
The Rams selected Kupp with the 69th overall selection in the 3rd round of the NFL Draft Friday.
Kupp set a Big Sky Conference record last year with 117 passes for the
Eagles. For his career he owns NCAA Football Championship Subdivision records for receptions (428) receiving yards (646) and receiving touchdowns (73).
The four-time All-American and two-time FCS Player of the Year will join second year quarterback Jarrod Goff in trying to turn around a Rams very lacking passing attack. Lo Angeles was 31st in passing yards and dead last in passing touchdowns with just 14 in 2016.
The NFL Draft is a family affair. Cooper’s father Craig Kupp, was drafted 135th overall by the New York Giants out of Pacific Lutheran University. Craig’s father, Jake, played at Washington and was drafted in the ninth round by the Dallas Cowboys in the 1964 NFL Draft before going on to a Hall of Fame career with the New Orleans Saints.
