BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Holiday gatherings may look a bit different in 2020, but health officials say it’s the perfect time to start new traditions.
Whatcom County Health Department Director Erika Lautenbach says the safest way to celebrate this year is to stay home with just your own household in an effort to avoid the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
The health department suggests celebrating by hosting a virtual dinner or a remote holiday movie watch party with family and friends.
For those who do plan to gather in person, health officials suggest asking guests to quarantine for 14 days beforehand, encouraging mask wearing and distancing, and serving food with individual portions and utensils.
