SEATTLE, Wash. (AP) — Career anti-tax initiative promoter Tim Eyman hopes the momentum from his $30 car tab initiative win will propel him into the governor’s office.

He announced that he’s running while testifying at a Sound Transit board meeting Thursday in Seattle.

He says he’s running against what he calls Seattle control of Washington politics.

Eyman faces some controversy as he enters the race.

The state attorney general has filed a lawsuit claiming he spent campaign donations on himself.

And a theft charge against him was dismissed earlier this year after he admitted taking an office chair from a store without paying for it.

KOMO reports that if Eyman officially files he would be the ninth person to join the race for governor in 2020.
