SEATTLE, Wash. (AP) — Students and staff of educational institutions are being targeted in a phishing scam.

The Internal Revenue Service issued a warning about a scam that’s aimed at those with a .EDU email address such as wwu.edu or whatcom.edu.

The fraudulent emails display the IRS logo and use various subject lines, such as “Tax Refund Payment” or “Recalculation of your tax refund payment.”

The email asks people to click a link and submit a form to claim their refund.

The phishing website then asks for personal information such as name, date of birth and social security number.

Recipients should not click on the link and may report it to the IRS.
