MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — Skagit County’s Health officer says a desire for people to get outside is driving an increase in coronavirus infections there.

Dr. Howard Leibrand  told KING5 that although more people are wearing masks and all six deaths this month in Skagit County came from one long-term care facility, infections are up among all age groups.

Health officials believe extended family members are getting together for picnics and parties — spreading coronavirus because they’re not taking all the necessary precautions.

Leibrand says if you must meet up with people, wear a mask — even if if you’re outside at a park with family members.
