BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The parents of a Chinese 18-year-old who drowned in Lake Whatcom said they regret letting their son leave home.
Bin Wang was at Camp Firwood when he disappeared last month.
A spokesperson told KOMO the family is devastated. “Everybody at home is incredibly sad, and trying not to cry, and trying to get by,” the spokesperson said.
Wang had planned to start college in China this year.
Witnesses watched Wang take off his shirt, shoes and socks, but no one recalled seeing him get into the water.
He did not know how to swim.
His parents are now taking his body home.
