ARLINGTON, Va. — A national farm advocacy organization is seeing little help for local dairy producers in the $1.9 trillion dollar relief bill being debated in the US Senate.
Christopher Galen is a senior vice president at the National Milk Producers Federation.
He says at this point, it’s all about funding to help the overall economy; Republicans and some Democrats are wondering if the money is needed at this time.
He did point to the provision in the current bill directing government agricultural product buys, which he feels would be beneficial.
It would be used for commodity purchases such as cheese, butter and milk and be used to help people who are food insecure.
Galen told KGMI there are still benefits USDA is unpacking from the 2nd stimulus bill passed last December on a more bi-partisan basis.
