WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – FEMA is asking those affected by recent flooding to be aware of fraudulent activities.

After disasters like the November flooding, it’s easy for criminals to steal information through fraud and identify theft.

Be on the lookout for people impersonating FEMA inspectors.

Do not give any banking information to those who claim to be a FEMA housing inspector and remember that all inspectors must carry a photo badge and have your application number.

For details and resources on identity theft, visit the FTC website.
