FERNDALE, WASH. – A Ferndale emergency fuels cleanup could cost $1 million.

The EPA, Department of Ecology, and Whatcom County Public Health Department are coordinating a cleanup of bio diesel, glycerin crude, lead and asbestos at Treoil Industries on Aldergrove Road.

Regulators found fuels leaking from above-ground tanks, which have been abandoned for about 10 years.

The Bellinghan Herald reports after the fuels are removed for recycling, the EPA will assess groundwater impacts and possibly levy fines.
