FERNDALE, Wash. — A legitimate Ferndale mobile grocery store raised the suspicion of local residents last week, sparking online rumors.

Comunications officer Riley Sweeney said police were called to Douglas Road last Thursday on reports of a man and woman luring children into a white van with candy, and asking for money.

Investigation determined the two had a valid reseller permit to operate a mobile grocery store.

In a release, Ferndale Police Chief Kevin Turner urged compassion for others who are trying to make it through tough times, asking that residents contact police if they see something suspicious before resorting to social media and possibly harming someone unnecessarily.
