FERNDALE, Wash. — Ferndale’s Public Works crew will smoke test sewer lines this week.
The work is scheduled for the neighborhoods north of Ferndale Terrace and south of Thornton.
During smoke testing, crews blow air and a non-toxic, non-staining odorless vapor into the sewer system from the stree and monitor where it comes out, uncovering any leaks.
The City says smoke testing is a harmless, cost-effective way to identify areas of the system that need improvement.
More information about the testing, including frequently asked questions, is available on the City’s website.
