FERNDALE, Wash. – Ferndale residents are being forced to pay more for their water and sewer service for now.
The Ferndale City Council approved a three-percent rise in rates and a 25-percent spike in hookup fees.
But the council voted on just a one year hike instead of the three years of increases originally proposed.
Councilmembers will reevaluate rates next June.
The city needs the money to pay for a new wastewater treatment plant.
