Ferndale residents used 8.9 million gallons less water this summer than last year.

The City of Ferndale says water usage for July and August was the lowest in the last six years.

A combination of mandatory watering restrictions, community outreach, and individual conservation efforts eased the load on the local aquifer and the wear and tear on the city’s utility system, resulting in lower water bills.

Watering restrictions expire on Sunday. but the City reminds residents that conservation can have a big impact on an individual utility bill and being attentive to water helps further conserve the resource.

More information on water conservation is available on the City of Ferndale website.
