OLYMPIA, Wash. — Eleven health insurers were approved to sell 74 plans next year on the Washington Health Exchange.
Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler said Monday that a 13.6 percent average price increase was approved, even though health insurers had sought a 19.4 percent average price increase.
Skagit and Island counties only have one insurer choice which is the Kaiser Health Plan of Washington.
Whatcom County has two choices, the Kaiser Health Plan and Premera Blue Cross.
About 4% of Washington’s population does not get employer or government-sponsored health insurance and must buy their own coverage.
