FERNDALE, Wash. — A statue at Ferndale High School is encouraging students to overcome hatred.
Students, staff and community partners gathered at Ferndale High School November 25th to dedicate a red heart statue with the words “#NoHate” to the high school student commons.
FHS is providing a temporary home to the statue and the district says they are using it as an opportunity to further their commitment to ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all students.
The sculpture is part of Ferndale’s response to a white supremacist group’s attempt to intimidate racial minorities in Whatcom County.
