SEATTLE, WASH. – The push to build a new arena in Seattle ratchets up.
A new Seattle City Council committee starts reviewing plans Monday for a new Sodo arena facility and the redevelopment of Key Arena.
“We will be there reviewing what’s going on, what the options are, what’s happening in Sodo and what can we expect when proposals are open with Key Arena,” Councilmember Sally Bagshaw says.
The idea is to build a home for possible NBA and NHL franchises that could also be used as a venue for concerts and other events.
“We’re all pretty enthused to see what ideas are coming back,” Bagshaw says.
Proposals to renovate or rebuild Key Arena are due by April 12.
A final committee recommendation is expected for June 30.
