BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Three semi-finalists have been announced for Bellingham’s top cop position.
Mayor Seth Fleetwood announced Tuesday morning, March 8th, that the semi-finalists will be introduced to the public in a virtual forum.
The candidates have been identified as John DeRousse, Dennis Flynn and Rebecca Mertzig.
DeRousse is the Deputy Chief of the Everett Police Department, while Mertzig currently serves as both the Chief of Stanwood PD as well as a Lieutenant with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
Flynn is the only candidate from out of state, coming from Commerce City, Colorado, where he presently serves as a Commander.
All three candidates will answer questions submitted by the public ahead of the forum, which will take place on March 17th at 5:30pm.
