BLAINE, Wash. — Local fire commissioners will meet Thursday and next Tuesday to discuss merging two jurisdictions
The Northern Light reports the proposal is a regional fire authority encompassing North Whatcom Fire and Whatcom County Fire District 4, which have 4 stations between them.
Proponents of the idea say if the new regional authority is approved, it would result in operating efficiencies.
The agencies, which have already operated jointly under contract for 10 years, would be funded by a single levy across the regional authority, approved by voters.
The public is welcome to input into today’s Zoom meeting at 3pm and again next Tuesday at 7.
