NORTH CASCADES, Wash. – Fire crews are battling a smoldering wildfire within North Cascades National Park.
According to a press release, the fire was spotted Wednesday night, August 10th, on McGregor Mountain, near the Lake Chelan recreational area.
North Cascades Smokejumpers and park firefighters are mostly tackling the fire from the ground.
National Parks officials have also closed off the McGregor Mountain Trail and Heaton Camp as a precaution.
The fire has burned about 1/4 acre of land so far, but officials don’t expect it to grow any larger.
Lightning from earlier this week is believed to have sparked the blaze.
