BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The mumps have arrived in Whatcom County.

The County Health Department says there’s one confirmed case of mumps.

You should watch out for symptoms of the mumps: swelling of the cheeks, neck or jaw; fever; headaches; muscles aches; tiredness or loss of appetite.

The Health Department says the best way to prevent mumps is to get vaccinated.

Anyone who thinks they may have been exposed to the mumps should contact their doctor and stay home from work and school.
