The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Skagit River and south fork of the Nooksack today, Friday, October 29th.

In Mount Vernon, the river is expected to rise above flood stage at 10 am and crest at around 32 feet later this evening.

Upriver Skagit communities like Hamilton, Lyman and Concrete should also be prepared to take action.

The Nooksack River is expected to crest at moderate flood stage near the Saxon bridge.

At this point, it doesn’t look like the river will rise enough to cause flooding in Everson or Sumas.

Watch out for water covering low-lying roadways and do not try to drive through flooded areas.
