FERNDALE, Wash. — Whatcom County is under flood watch.
The National Weather Service issued an Area Flood Watch for the county effective until Saturday morning.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office says the Nooksack River could reach minor flood stage on Friday and the area is expected to get between 2 and 5 inches of rain in the next few days in addition to the 2 to 4 inches that fell over the past 36 hours.
People in and around the Nooksack River should keep an eye on upcoming weather forecasts and watch out for possible flood warnings.
The Sheriff’s Office says there are currently no reports of flooding and their emergency management division is monitoring the situation closely.
