ESPN.com reports New York Yankee pitcher Michael Pineda is seeking a second opinion on whether he needs Tommy John surgery on his right elbow.  Pineda has a flexor muscle strain and partial tear in his ulnar collateral ligament.  He has a record of 8-4 with a 4.39 ERA this season.

Pineda went 9-10 and made the American League All-Star team in his only season as a Seattle Mariner in 2011.  He was traded to the Yankees after that 2011 campaign.
