BIRCH BAY, Wash. – A former president of the Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce is one of two people hurt in a fire early Friday morning.

A GoFundMe page set up for Randy Parten says he was badly burned when he tried to rescue his dog and two other pets. The page says he was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Another person was also hurt.

The Chief of North Whatcom Fire and Rescue says fire fighters found the home on Birch Bay Drive fully engulfed in flames when they arrived early Friday.

A storage building also burned.

The GoFundMe page says the entire home and all of Parten’s belongings were lost.
