WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – A former Whatcom County resident was arrested after being accused of raping a classmate.

Court documents state that the victim and the suspect went out for drinks together back in July 2020.

The victim said that she got sick and asked the suspect, 34-year-old Jose Ramos, to take her home.

Instead, Ramos took the barely conscious victim to his apartment.

The victim completed a sexual assault exam the next day, believing that Ramos had raped her while she was unconscious.

Ramos repeatedly refused to provide a DNA sample to investigators, even though the exam found that the victim had been sexually assaulted.

He was taken into custody on Wednesday, April 27th, but was released the Whatcom County Jail later that day.
