The Utah Jazz selected former Gonzaga guard Nigel Williams-Goss with the 55th overall pick in the NBA Draft Thursday. Williams-Goss worked out for the Jazz in their final workout last Saturday.

Williams-Goss played for the University of Washington for his freshman and sophomore seasons before transferring to Gonzaga. He averaged 16.8 points, 5 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game in his lone season with the Zags. He led the Bulldogs to their first Final Four appearance in program history and to the NCAA Tournament championship game where they fell to North Carolina.

According to The Salt Lake Tribune, Goss just wanted to show the Jazz how hard he works and will continue to do so.

“I am just trying to cement what people already know about me,” said Williams-Goss during that workout. “I am a hard worker, I’m a leader, I’m a guy that picks up on things quickly. Just all of the things that these coaches and scouts saw during the season is what they are going to get from me.”

Williams-Goss is not the first Gonzaga Bulldog to become a member of the Jazz. The most recent being John Stockton, the NBA’s all-time leader in assists.
