BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Four suspects are in custody while sheriff’s deputies investigate multiple burglaries in Whatcom County.

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office responded to two in-progress burglaries at local businesses in the Custer area early Tuesday morning.

Just after midnight, the owner of Sunrise Grocery reported that someone had broken through the door of his closed business, stolen cigarettes and tried to get into the ATM.

At about 1:30, a similar call came in from the owner of Delta Grocery, which is located about four miles away.

Deputies tracked down a pickup truck matching the description of one seen at the scene of both crimes and, with help from the Ferndale PD, they arrested all four occupants.

Alena Sharp, Treven Elgersma, and Brent Cheney, all of Bellingham, were arrested with Dylan Sielicki of Stanwood on a slew of charges soon after the burglaries.
