ORCAS ISLAND, Wash. – Four islands in San Juan County were without power Tuesday.
Orcas Island, Shaw Island, Blakely and Crane island lost power around 6 in the morning.
Suzanne Olson with OPALCO said one tree did a lot of damage. “The power went out when a tree went into the transmission lines on Shaw,” Olson said. “That trasmission is what feeds those four islands.”
Olson said about 4,900 OPALCO customers were affected across the islands, which also lost power for 21 hours on Sunday.
Olson said big outages like this aren’t frequent on the islands. “We actually have a pretty great record of reliability here, we don’t have outages very often” Olson said.
As of Wednesday morning, OPALCO doesn’t report any outages.
