WASHINGTON, DC (AP) — The U.S. government says four huge dams on the Snake River will not be removed.
The announcement dashes the hopes of native tribes and environmental groups that have fought for decades to breach the dams.
The Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Reclamation and the Bonneville Power Administration released their final Environmental Impact Statement Friday.
Their plan calls for spilling more water over the dams at strategic times to help fish migrate past the dams.
