Fred Meyer warehouse workers voted to authorize a strike Saturday.
Workers represented by Teamster Local 117 voted unanimously for the strike they say could cause potential service disruptions.
The two sides have been negotiating but haven’t made much progress, and the current contract was set to expire Sunday.
The union claims Fred Meyer was slow to respond to safety concerns during the pandemic, and the company’s proposals aren’t enough.
Fred Meyer says their goal is a fair and balanced contract that honors employees while helping them stay competitive and they say they don’t expect any service disruptions.
Teamster Local 117 represents hundreds of warehouse workers who serve stores in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska.
