LYNDEN, Wash. – Firefighters are mourning the death of Interim Lynden Fire Chief Robert Spinner.

Spinner was running to stay in fire-fighting shape Friday when he died of an apparent heart attack.

Since he died in the line of duty, firefighters are standing vigil over his body.

A procession of firetrucks will be part of a traditional firefighter funeral for Spinner on Saturday at 1:00PM at the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds in Lynden.

 

Lynden Fire Chief Processional Route

The Lynden Fire Department will be escorting Fire Chief Robert Spinner’s body from Bellingham to Lynden Tuesday July 18th.

This processional is scheduled for 1 pm beginning at the Medical Examiner’s office 1500 State Street and ending at Gillies Funeral Home on Front Street in Lynden, WA.

The processional route will exit the Medical Examiner’s office west onto to East Champion St to Cornwall Avenue.  At Cornwall they turn north and proceed West Illinois Street. From West Illinois they will head west again to Meridian St. They will proceed north on Meridian all the way to Lynden and then turn east onto Front Street and travel through downtown to Gillies Funeral Home at 202 Front Street.

Any citizens wishing to pay their respects to the Chief and his family can do so by standing on the sidewalks anywhere along the route.
