The cost of gasoline is on the way up.
The price of regular is up about a penny in Bellingham this month and around six cents compared to the same time last year.
Our region’s gas prices continue be the highest in the state.
Patrick DeHaan from Gas Buddy.com says we’re seeing the annual change to “summer blend” gasoline.
“After the summer months, demand tends to drop and we move back from summer to winter gasoline. Once we hit a peak price in mid to late May, we may actually see gas prices back off in the end of the summer and that could continue into the fall.”
With that said, DeHaan says we should expect gas to top $3/gal. in the Pacific Northwest over the next couple of weeks.
