WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – The spike in gas prices seems to be slowing slightly in Washington State.

AAA says the state average is now $4.73 just a few cents higher than Whatcom County’s average.

Record highs have been broken for three days in a row in the county, soaring beyond the old record of $4.50 set in 2008.

Overnight, Island County residents saw their average jump above $5 a gallon.

However, the national average only increased by a cent to $4.33.
