WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – It may not seem like it when you fill up your tank, but gas prices in Washington are, in fact, going down.
AAA reports that the average price for a gallon of gas in Whatcom County is $4.63, down from a record of $4.71 set a month ago.
The state average is only a few cents higher at $4.69.
Some gas stations in the state are still reporting prices hovering either just below or just above $5 a gallon.
Earlier this month, President Biden ordered the release of 1 million barrels of oil a day from the nation’s petroleum reserve in an effort to lower prices.
