PASCO, Wash. (AP) -The founder of a Pasco renewable energy company was sentenced to more than eight years in prison for defrauding the government of nearly $10 million.
Scott Johnson pleaded guilty in 2015.
Johnson’s Gen-X Energy Group was an alternative fuel company formerly based in Pasco and Moses Lake.
Prosecutors say he and others claimed to have produced millions of gallons of renewable fuel so they could file false claims with the IRS for millions of dollars in tax credits.
